Three people escaped death when a woman lost control of her car while attempting to overtake a van on Friday in La Brea, crashing into a vendor's stall.
Police said around 4:25 pm, Avenash Harripersad, 25, of Penal, was driving his white Isuzu three-tonne truck east from Point Fortin to Oropouche when upon reaching R.J Thackoordass Service Station located at Southern Main Road, La Brea, he attempted to turn right into the compound.
Police said Natasha Giff, 40, of Parrylands Village, Guapo, who was driving behind Harripersad, attempted to overtake and hit the right front of his van.
Police said Giff lost control and collided with a vendor’s table and another car driven by Damion Lewis, 56, of La Brea. Lewis's car then struck fuel pump #3 belonging to the gas station which then fell on a vehicle driven by Bernard Ford, 36, of Point Fortin.
Giff's car also struck another vehicle driven by Everol Winford whose car, in turn, skidded backwards and collided with a vehicle driven by Abraham Charles, 31, of Fyzabad.
Giff, as well as oyster vendors Shanti Sahadeosingh, of Debe, and Dipchand Deonanan, of Penal, suffered injuries and are warded at the San Fernando General Hospital. La Brea police are continuing investigations.
