For al­most two hours, guests have been wait­ing for the swear­ing-in cer­e­mo­ny for the May­or, Deputy May­or and Al­der­men of the Ch­agua­nas Bor­ough Cor­po­ra­tion to be­gin. Among them, Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Min­is­ter Kaz­im Ho­sein.

This morn­ing's pro­ceed­ing was card­ed to be­gin at 9 a.m. how­ev­er, up to 10:44 a.m. it had not start­ed.

CNC3 News was told an ad­min­is­tra­tive glitch prompt­ed the de­lay.

PNM Coun­cil­lor for Edin­gurgh/Long­denville South, Janelle Joe-Ryan told us no in­vi­ta­tions were sent to the PNM Al­der­men or her­self. While she is in at­ten­dance af­ter hear­ing from "the grapevine" about this morn­ing's event, Joe-Ryan claimed her col­league did not, as such she was a "no-show".

The pres­ence of the PNM Al­der­man, who has not yet been an­nounced, is need­ed to vote for the ap­point­ment of May­or and Deputy May­or.

Af­ter sev­er­al phone calls and pleas, the PNM Al­der­man, who was at her Port of Spain work­place at the time, will at­tend.

Al­so a no-show this morn­ing was out­go­ing May­or Gopaul Bood­han. No rea­son was giv­en for his ab­sence.

Coun­cil­lor Joe-Ryan told CNC3 News she was dis­ap­point­ed about what tran­spired and did not want to think in­vi­ta­tions were de­lib­er­ate­ly not sent to the on­ly two PNM per­sons at the Ch­agua­nas Bor­ough Cor­po­ra­tion.

The Cor­po­ra­tion has un­til mid­night to com­plete its swear­ing-in cer­e­mo­ny.
