Venezuela's Justice Minister Diosdado Cabello is denying U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim that the U.S. military destroyed a Venezuelan vessel with drugs that could have been on its way to this country.
He said allegations of this boat possibly heading to Trinidad and Tobago as it was destroyed are ‘all lies’.
Minister Cabello was speaking on his weekly programme last night.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed that the U.S. military destroyed a Venezuelan vessel allegedly carrying drugs, killing the 11 people onboard. U.S. authorities say it was possibly on its way to T&T.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar issued a statement right after the incident, stating that she fully supported the actions of the U.S. government.
Minister Cabello accused the U.S. of being ‘liars, saying the White House did not explain how its naval forces determined that the boat came from Venezuelan territory.
He also argued that U.S. authorities have failed to say what procedure was used to identify the 'cartel' allegedly involved, as well as the nationalities of those on board the vessel at the time of the military strike.
