Eight councillors have taken the oath of office at the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation.
The ceremony was held yesterday at the council’s chamber at Ramdass Street, Sangre Grande.
The Sangre Grande Corporation went from five for the UNC and three to the PNM, to six in favour of the UNC and two to the PNM in the August 14 Local Government Elections. The PNM lost the Valencia West district.
Despite the election divide, the councillors were all smiles as they made their way into the council chamber.
Outgoing corporation chairman Anil Juteram offered words of wisdom to the councillors.
He told them to continue to have the same unity seen for the swearing-in and get the work done for the people in the region.
“The unity and camaraderie demonstrated indicated that all councillors will work for the development of the region and its people,” Juteram said.
