Eight coun­cil­lors have tak­en the oath of of­fice at the San­gre Grande Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion.

The cer­e­mo­ny was held yes­ter­day at the coun­cil’s cham­ber at Ram­dass Street, San­gre Grande.

The San­gre Grande Cor­po­ra­tion went from five for the UNC and three to the PNM, to six in favour of the UNC and two to the PNM in the Au­gust 14 Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Elec­tions. The PNM lost the Va­len­cia West dis­trict.

De­spite the elec­tion di­vide, the coun­cil­lors were all smiles as they made their way in­to the coun­cil cham­ber.

Out­go­ing cor­po­ra­tion chair­man Anil Juter­am of­fered words of wis­dom to the coun­cil­lors.
He told them to con­tin­ue to have the same uni­ty seen for the swear­ing-in and get the work done for the peo­ple in the re­gion.

“The uni­ty and ca­ma­raderie demon­strat­ed in­di­cat­ed that all coun­cil­lors will work for the de­vel­op­ment of the re­gion and its peo­ple,” Juter­am said.
