The body of Mayaro toddler Allon Ramdial, which was found at the mouth of the Ortoire River four days after he was reported missing, was brought to the Forensic Science Centre, St James, yesterday.
However, the autopsy was not performed.
Instead, the body was swabbed, and the sample was sent for COVID-19 testing.
Ramdial was last seen on December 9.
He was reported missing by his 19-year-old mother, Christianna Ramdial, the same day.
After extensive land and sea searches, the toddler’s remains were found in a rocky area off Point Radix, Ortoire Village, Mayaro.
Ramdial’s remains were found by a joint team comprising Mayaro Lifeguards, the Hunters Search and Rescue Team led by Captain Vallence Rambharat, and the Wesley Mohammed Team.
Ramdial's mother declined to speak with reporters yesterday at the Forensic Science Centre.
