International health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) experts Paula Davis and Niel Harper will headline the American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago’s (AMCHAM T&T) 30th Annual HSSE Conference and Exhibition.
The two-day conference is scheduled for October 27 and 28 at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad and will bring together business leaders, HSSE professionals, government representatives and industry experts.
This year’s conference marks three decades of AMCHAM T&T’s advocacy and awareness-building around health, safety, security and environmental practices.
The theme, “Intelligent and Resilient by Design”, reflects the expanding scope of HSSE, which now includes cybersecurity, psychological safety, environmental resilience, human factors, emergency preparedness, business continuity and the responsible use of technology.
AMCHAM T&T chief executive officer Nirad Tewarie said the organisation had advocated for HSSE for 30 years because safety was fundamental to how successful organisations operate.
He said the anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on the organisation’s work while looking ahead to building a stronger culture of safety, resilience and responsibility across Trinidad and Tobago.
Davis, a global speaker, strategic adviser and award-winning author, will open the first day with a presentation titled “Healthy Leaders. Healthy Systems: Teaming Up Against Burnout”.
Her presentation will examine burnout as a business risk and explore practical approaches to strengthening resilience among leaders and teams.
On the second day, Harper, a cybersecurity and digital trust leader and advisory professional with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and ISACA, will deliver “When Systems Fail: Resilience by Design: Leading Through Risk in an Intelligent, Interconnected World”.
His presentation will focus on the growing links between technology, cybersecurity, leadership and organisational resilience.
For the first time in 2026, AMCHAM T&T will also host a two-day Cybersecurity Conference simultaneously with the HSSE Conference.
The cybersecurity sessions will examine emerging digital risks, including artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, cyber-driven financial attacks, predictive AI-based protection, third-party and supply-chain vulnerabilities, and resilience amid what organisers describe as permanent disruption.
The conference will also feature an HSSE Exhibition, allowing participants to engage with industry professionals and explore solutions, along with specialised workshops offering practical insights and professional development.
AMCHAM T&T said the conferences are intended to help organisations better anticipate risks, protect people and strengthen resilience by incorporating HSSE considerations into leadership, decision-making and business strategy.
