The An­gli­can Church in the Dio­cese of Trinidad and To­ba­go says it has ob­served that crime has re­placed COVID 19 as the ma­jor na­tion­al con­cern and ex­pressed its con­cern at the mur­der rate and oth­er se­ri­ous crimes in the coun­try. It comes on the back of the An­gli­can Church hold­ing its 150th An­nu­al Syn­od from May 10th – 13th, 2023. The theme of the Syn­od was “Re- Imag­in­ing Mis­sion”.

In a press re­lease is­sued fol­low­ing the Syn­od, the An­gli­can Church stat­ed, it "en­cour­aged prayer­ful sup­port for the na­tion­al se­cu­ri­ty agen­cies and the ju­di­cial sys­tem in ad­dress­ing these se­ri­ous is­sues."

The Church fur­ther called on all with spe­cial gifts to come to­geth­er to turn back this scourge among us. "The Church re­solved to do its part by work­ing in our schools and oth­er in­sti­tu­tions to build up moral and eth­i­cal val­ues in our re­la­tion­ships with one an­oth­er," it stat­ed.

Re­port­ing on the stew­ard­ship for 2022, the Syn­od cel­e­brat­ed its con­tri­bu­tion to the growth and de­vel­op­ment of the na­tion (150th An­niver­sary of the Dio­cese and 200th An­niver­sary of the es­tab­lish­ment of the Church of the Holy Trin­i­ty Cathe­dral).

The Syn­od ac­knowl­edged the ster­ling con­tri­bu­tions of the An­gli­can Church in pri­ma­ry and sec­ondary ed­u­ca­tion. Fur­ther, it re­solved to main­tain so­cial­ly re­spon­si­ble re­la­tion­ships with its ten­ants and oth­er stake­hold­ers.
