The Angostura Foundation hosted its first dog-friendly public event, Paws in the Savannah, on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Queen’s Park Savannah. The event was part of the Foundation’s ongoing initiatives to promote responsible pet ownership and support animal welfare.
The event was free and open to the public. Families, pet owners, and animal welfare stakeholders were in attendance. Activities included pet care services, dog treat stations, pet adoption opportunities, vaccinations, training demonstrations, and wellness workshops. The event was held in collaboration with animal shelters and veterinarians.
Additional features included an obstacle course, toy station, spin-the-wheel games, a “build a bandana” station, face painting, caricature drawing, a misting station and dog pools, photo booths, mocktail stations, and giveaways from event sponsors.
Chairman of The Angostura Foundation, Professor of Practice Dr. Sterling Frost O.R.T.T., stated: “Animals have always been part of our story, as we have been providing support to animal shelters and rescuers through financial contributions, donations and campaigns. Hosting Paws in the Savannah is just the continuation of our commitment to support animal rescue, promote responsible animal welfare, and bring communities together in a fun and meaningful way.”
The Foundation acknowledged the contributions of sponsors who supported the event. As a result of the event, a financial contribution will be made to four animal shelters: the Trinidad & Tobago Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Animal Welfare Network, Animals Alive, and The Mustapha Project.
