Finance Minister Colm Imbert has revealed that the North American-based Apple Leisure Group has been chosen to operate the Magdalena Grand Hotel in Tobago.
“For those of you in the tourism business, you would know that the Apple Leisure Group is the largest Charter airline operator in the United States. It is the largest vertically integrated vacation resort company and it will bring to Tobago, once negotiations are successful, not only bring a world-class brand but also airlift. That is of the reasons why they were selected as the preferred operator because of the integrated solution to Tobago. That is one of the problems Tobago has had, even if you build hotels you need people to fill those hotels.”
Imbert spoke yesterday at the T&T Chamber of Industry of Commerce’s post-budget seminar at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Port-of-Spain.
Imbert first announced in Monday’s budget presentation that “a reputable internationally-recognized brand manager has been identified as the operator for the Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort.”
But it was only on Tuesday morning that he gave the name of the new operator for the Magdalena Hotel in Tobago.
The Apple Leisure Group is the largest charter airline operator in the United States.
Imbert said Government’s selection of the group will bring “integrated solutions” to Tobago.
Government will undertake rehabilitation and outfitting work on the hotel and Apple Leisure Group will assume operatorship. When that happens Imbert said the hotel will be rebranded as a signature AMR resorts of the Apple Leisure Group.
