Argument with neighbour leads to stabbing death

A Laven­tille man, who was stabbed sev­er­al times dur­ing an ar­gu­ment with a neigh­bour on Thurs­day night out­side his home, has died.

The de­ceased was iden­ti­fied as An­drew So­leyn, 41, of Point Pleas­ant Park, Laven­tille.

The sus­pect, al­so aged 41, re­port­ed­ly lives a few doors down from the vic­tim.

So­leyn’s rel­a­tives re­port­ed that they heard him ar­gu­ing with the sus­pect around 9.15 pm on the road­way, fol­low­ing which it es­ca­lat­ed in­to a phys­i­cal al­ter­ca­tion.

It was al­leged that dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion, the sus­pect stabbed the vic­tim sev­er­al times about the head, up­per body and right leg be­fore flee­ing the scene.

As So­leyn’s rel­a­tives were alert­ed that he had been in­jured, one placed the bleed­ing man in the back of his truck.

So­leyn was tak­en to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he un­der­went emer­gency treat­ment but died at 10.02 pm.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors lat­er went to the sus­pect’s house and found him nurs­ing a bleed­ing in­dex fin­ger.

Ques­tioned about it, the sus­pect re­port­ed­ly said he had in­jured him­self whilst open­ing a tin of tu­na.

He was ar­rest­ed by of­fi­cers and tak­en to the hos­pi­tal where he was treat­ed and dis­charged in­to the care of the po­lice, who lat­er es­cort­ed him to the Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion, where he re­mained up to yes­ter­day.
