An Arima businessman was killed on Monday, as he drove into the garage of his home at Plumrose Avenue, Santa Rosa Heights, Arima.
The victim was identified as Azard Pooran, 69, the owner of the Shock “N” Stock Book Seller and Stationary Store, located at the Shops of Arima.
Reports indicate that Pooran had just arrived home from work, when he was allegedly confronted by a lone gunman.
A female relative who was at home at the time, reported hearing multiple gunshots around 6.16 pm and then the deceased screaming, “Okay, okay.”
The female relative alerted another male relative, who pulled up the CCTV cameras and saw the victim lying on the garage floor. The two then alerted the police.
A review of the footage showed the victim arriving home just after 6 pm, and upon driving into the gated compound and garage, the gunman slipped past the closing gates and fired several shots through the front passenger window of Pooran’s vehicle as he exited the driver’s door.
Pooran died at the scene as the gunman escaped on foot.
Six 9 mm spent shell casings were found at the scene.
