An Arima man remained hospitalised in a serious condition yesterday after he was chopped by someone he knows, whilst walking on the road.
The 40-year-old of Mottley Trace, Pinto Road, Arima, was in the company of a female relative around 10 pm on August 6, when upon reaching an abandoned house along the road, a man known to them from the area, ran out with a cutlass and began chopping the victim.
As the woman began screaming, the assailant ran off.
Officers of the Northern Division Task Force North responded and took the victim to the Arima Hospital, where he was treated for chop wounds to the head and right ear.
The victim was later transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, as his condition grew increasingly serious.
