An Arima man was killed yesterday morning on his way to court for an attempted murder charge.
Police reported that Isaiah Garcia was shot and killed while leaving his Recreation Street, Arima Old Road apartment around 7.15 am.
A neighbour informed police that the front gate to the apartment complex was opened just before gunshots rang out. Garcia was later found on the ground bleeding.
Garcia, who had an ankle monitor as a condition of his bail, was charged with the attempted murder of a Carapo couple in 2021.
Originally from Sanchez Street, Arima, and also of Sunset Drive Unity Lane, Carapo, Garcia was denied bail on first appearance.
His killing pushed the murder toll to 65 for the year, ten less than the corresponding period last year.
