Po­lice are prob­ing an in­ci­dent at a Mal­oney bar where an armed pa­tron killed a ban­dit and shot an­oth­er on Wednes­day night.

Po­lice said two ban­dits stormed Leela's Bar at the cor­ner of Dhan­pat Lane and the Pi­ar­co Old Road at around 9.10 pm and an­nounced a rob­bery.

One of the ban­dits point­ed a gun at the pa­trons and fired shots in the air.

One of the pa­trons was the own­er of a li­cenced gun and shot the two ban­dits.

Of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force and the Mal­oney CID were called in.

One of the ban­dits was iden­ti­fied as Kerdell Wint, 18, who died at the scene.

The sec­ond ban­dit was tak­en to the Ari­ma Health Fa­cil­i­ty where he re­mained up to Thurs­day morn­ing.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors found and seized a gun and am­mu­ni­tion be­lieved to have been used by the ban­dit.

Mal­oney po­lice are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
