Atlantic LNG employees helped Egypt Village Government Primary School join the growing number of schools with on-site sustainable agriculture based on renewable energy on United Way National Day of Caring this past Sunday.

As part of Atlantic’s participation in the Day of Caring, a team of employees led by Atlantic CEO Ronald Adams volunteered to refurbish and restock 11 grow boxes at the school, including sowing a new crop of garden vegetables. Egypt Village Government also received a new Solar Ponix unit (solar-powered hydroponic system), which Atlantic will help integrate into the school’s agricultural programme.

“Our work today at Egypt Village Government Primary School continues Atlantic’s drive to build a sustainable future by investing in sustainable practices,” Adams said. “The United Way Day of Caring is a significant component of Atlantic’s commitment to volunteerism and to our partnership with United Way and we are happy for the opportunity to volunteer in Point Fortin, our home community.”

Solar Ponix is a solar powered hydroponic system invented by Ancel Bhagwandeen, a consulting engineer at the MIC Institute of Technology that constructed the system. The system won the Innovation and Technology Challenge at the 2023 Energy Conference.
