Chief Secretary, Farley Augustine, has clarified that Tobago is not seeking a replacement for Caribbean Airlines (CAL).
Speaking to Guardian Media last evening, he said rather than a replacement, they are looking at alternative strategies for the airbridge.
Augustine mentioned two possible strategies, one being wet leasing planes to work with CAL and the other being international airlift from a new airline coming to the island.
Augustine said, “I see some people running away with the statement as if we are seeking a replacement for Caribbean Airlines. I said no such thing. In fact, I went through two strategies for airlift. I said we are looking at wet leasing planes to work with CAL. And I spoke about international airlift from a new airline coming to the Island.”
Last week, Augustine announced the assembly’s intention to introduce a new airline that would see additional international and local flights out of Tobago.
