Homicide detectives will now question several people involved in the death of Golconda teenager Videsh Dookran after an autopsy confirmed that he was shot dead.
Investigators from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations: Region Three received the findings of the post-mortem done at the Forensic Science Centre, Port-of-Spain on Thursday.
It stated that Dookran, 15, died from a single gunshot wound to the chest, as reported to police by an anonymous informant on Sunday.
So far, police are yet to arrest anyone for Dookran’s murder.
A report stated that someone contacted Southern Division police on Sunday morning, informing them of a body inside an abandoned house at the back of Classic Pluck Shop along Cipero Road, Golconda. PC Matloo and PC Balgobin of the Ste Madeleine Police Station went to the Pluck Shop.
They searched the abandoned building and found the Form Three Ste Madeleine Secondary School student lying in a fetal position in an outdoor bathroom. He had a gunshot wound to his chest.
Police learned that Dookran was among a group of people, including children, around 3 pm last Saturday when he got involved in an altercation. One member of the group pulled out a firearm and shot him. The killer later got help to move Dookran’s body to the abandoned building.
Dookran’s relatives said he left home on Saturday afternoon to visit a cousin who lives in the area but did not return home.
His mother, Devika Seebaran, said he did not have a cellphone.
