After making mistakes in his past which led to his incarceration in prison, relatives said father of two Quillon Hudson changed his life. It is believed a phone call from someone he knew on Friday night lured him his death.

Hudson, 29, was shot several times a short distance from his home La Romaine home. After hearing the first set of gunshots shortly after 10 pm, his relatives ran out of his house and actually saw him being shot. The shooter then simply walked away.

Investigators have not yet ascertained the motive.

Hudson lived with his mother Charmaine Hudson and other relatives at Pearl Street. They said earlier that day someone had shot at Hudson but he did not tell any of them or file a report. A relative, who wished to remain anonymous, said Hudson was outside in the hammock moments before he was killed when he got a phone call.

“He walked down the road and shortly after he was shot. When we heard the first set of gunshots mom said they shooting somebody. She started telling everybody to get off the road and she ask, ‘Where is Quillon?’”

Realising that Hudson was the victim, the relative said relatives and a neighbour immediately put him into a car and rushed him to the hospital. He died while being attended to at the San Fernando General Hospital. She said Hudson did not identify the killer before he died.

People who were nearby heard the killer telling Hudson, ‘You coming around me boy,’ as he shot him. She said Hudson was last incarcerated three years ago. When he came out he changed his life and started going to church but he kept his friends because he felt they “check for him.” Hudson, she said, ignored their warnings about the company he kept.

“The old people have a saying that if you play with dogs you will get bitten by flees. And that is what Quillon was doing.”

She said he last worked on a rig a few months ago but he kept himself busy.

“He was a workaholic. A cool person. He liked to make his jokes,” she said.

He had two sons, ages one month and six years old.
