Four peo­ple, in­clud­ing a teenag­er, have been grant­ed bail af­ter ap­pear­ing in court on Fri­day, charged with at­tempt­ed mur­der.

Dicke Rag­bars­ingh, 66; Sasha Rag­bars­ingh, 35, and a 17-year-old fe­male rel­a­tive were not called up­on to plead when they ap­peared vir­tu­al­ly be­fore Mag­is­trate Sarah De Sil­va of the San­gre Grande Mag­is­trates’ Court.

They re­ceived $200,000 bail with a sure­ty and were or­dered to have no com­mu­ni­ca­tion or phys­i­cal in­ter­ac­tion with the vic­tim. They al­so must re­port to the Cunu­pia Po­lice Sta­tion be­tween 6 am and 6 pm.

Michael Ju­nior Wint, 41, who was al­so charged with ob­scene lan­guage, ob­struc­tion and re­sist­ing ar­rest, was $245,000 bail with a sure­ty to cov­er all charges. He too was or­dered to have no ver­bal or phys­i­cal com­mu­ni­ca­tion with the vic­tim and to re­port to the Cunu­pia sta­tion on spe­cif­ic days be­tween 6 am and 6 pm.

The mat­ter was ad­journed to Jan­u­ary 10, 2023.

Ac­cord­ing to a TTPS re­lease, the charges were laid by PC Has­sanali, of the Cunu­pia Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID), on Fri­day, fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent on De­cem­ber 19 along the South­ern Main Road, Cunu­pia.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at about 11.45 pm, two fe­males al­leged­ly had a ver­bal al­ter­ca­tion that be­came phys­i­cal.

A teenag­er, along with a man, al­leged­ly armed with cut­lass­es walked over to where the women were and al­leged­ly be­gan chop­ping one of them. An­oth­er man al­so al­leged­ly start­ed at­tack­ing the woman.

An am­bu­lance was called and the vic­tim was lat­er tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex.

Of­fi­cers re­spond­ed and while at­tempt­ing to ar­rest the two fe­males in­volved, they were al­leged­ly con­front­ed by a man who al­leged­ly be­gan shout­ing ob­scen­i­ties at them. When of­fi­cers at­tempt­ed to ar­rest him, he al­leged­ly pulled away vi­o­lent­ly. He was even­tu­al­ly sub­dued and the three were tak­en to the Cunu­pia Po­lice Sta­tion. An­oth­er sus­pect was ar­rest­ed the fol­low­ing day.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by Sr Supt Pierre, In­sps Syl­van and Bis­nath and Sgt Howard, with the as­sis­tance of of­fi­cers of the Cunu­pia CID.
