A 40-year-old St Joseph man was robbed af­ter vis­it­ing San Juan to buy a PlaySta­tion 5 gam­ing con­sole from strangers he met on Face­book.

Po­lice said the man drove to Weekes Trace, San Juan, around 9.30 am on Thurs­day to buy the gam­ing sys­tem, which was ad­ver­tised on­line as be­ing for sale for $3000.

On reach­ing the area, the man spoke with some­one who claimed to be the own­er of the item for sale, how­ev­er an­oth­er man, armed with a pis­tol ap­proached the vic­tim and an­nounced a rob­bery.

Both ban­dits stole the man's cell­phone and $3000 cash be­fore run­ning away through Weekes Trace.

Po­lice are once again urg­ing the pub­lic to ex­er­cise cau­tion when vis­it­ing un­fa­mil­iar ar­eas to meet strangers for fi­nan­cial trans­ac­tions.
