Nine patrons and an Arima bar owner were issued fixed penalty notices totalling $70,000, after being found breaching a safe zone at a bar in Arima.
According to police reports, on November 26th, officers of the Northern Division Safe Zone Unit and an official of the Ministry of Health received information that led them to a bar located along Hollis Avenue, Arima.
Upon arrival, the officers discovered unvaccinated persons consuming alcohol on the premises. The nine patrons were fined $5000 each for failure to comply with requirements for entry into a safe zone under the health regulations. The owner of the bar was issued with a $25,000 fine for failure of owner/occupier to comply with requirements for entry into a business.
