An­oth­er fire is burn­ing at the Beetham land­fill. Those with health con­di­tions are be­ing asked to take pre­cau­tions be­cause of smoke in the area.

Trinidad and To­ba­go Sol­id Waste Man­age­ment Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed (SWM­COL) said in a re­lease Ini­tial in­ves­ti­ga­tions re­vealed that the fire is lo­cat­ed at the ac­tive tip­ping area which will re­sult in some de­lay to the com­pa­ny’s op­er­a­tions to­day.

Fires in the land­fill aren’t un­com­mon. A ma­jor fire in the land­fill in April 2022 burned for sev­er­al days af­fect­ing air qual­i­ty in the cap­i­tal.
