A Bel­mont man re­mained hos­pi­talised in a sta­ble con­di­tion af­ter be­ing shot yes­ter­day.

The 24-year-old vic­tim, of St Fran­cois Val­ley Road, Bel­mont, was shot at his rent­ed apart­ment at Benares Street, St James.

The land­lord re­port­ed hear­ing gun­shots and, up­on check­ing, found the vic­tim bleed­ing from wounds to the head, up­per body and feet.

The land­lord con­tact­ed the St James Po­lice Sta­tion and of­fi­cers in turn alert­ed the Emer­gency Health Ser­vices.

The in­jured man was tak­en to the St James Med­ical Com­plex, where he was sta­bilised be­fore be­ing trans­ferred to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope.

The vic­tim, who was shot 12 times, has been liv­ing in St James for the past three months.
