?British Gas of Trinidad and Tobago (BGTT) Limited President Derek Hudson came in for kudos from Port-of-Spain Mayor Murchison Brown for voluntarily providing service, which aided the city's beautification and cleanliness. He also said due to Hudson's stewardship in the petroleum industry about US$3 billion was invested in T&T. Brown made these comments before presenting a plaque to Hudson at City Hall, Keate Street, Port-of-Spain, yesterday. The occasion was the statutory meeting of the Port-of-Spain City Corporation.
Fondly describing him as one of "our boys," Brown said, "Twenty years ago, he played a significant role in the development of the energy sector. When the Belmont Park was being refurbished, he made a significant contribution to its restoration. Also, litter carts (30) were sponsored by BGTT." During Brown's visit to Bahamas, he said the Cabinet was taken aback that corporate citizens volunteer their monies and services to the cities. "They were stunned...that people come forward and say. What can we do to help?" ML
