Bilingual application forms are being presented to Venezuelan nationals seeking jobs in T&T.

Venezuelan nationals seeking employment in this country after registering in the government's amnesty, are being catered for by some companies, with bilingual application forms.

Among those companies is Prestige Holdings, which has now adapted its forms with Spanish translations to ensure that the Venezuelan nationals could understand.

Prestige Holdings is the parent company of Subway, KFC, Pizza Hut, TGI Fridays and Starbucks.

The registration process runs from May 31 to June 14.

It gives Venezuelan nationals who have come to Trinidad and Tobago, whether legally or illegally, the opportunity to work for a period of one year.

Thousands of Venezuelans have turned up daily to the three registration venues - Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain, Achievors Banquet Hall in San Fernando and Caroline Building in Scarborough - since the start of the registration.

The economic crisis that has engulfed Venezuela under President Nicolás Maduro set off an exodus, with thousands coming to Trinidad and Tobago.

The economic damage is among the worst in Latin American history, researchers say, with more than three million people leaving the country in recent years.

They are fleeing shortages of food, water, electricity and medicine, as well as the government’s political crackdowns.
