Even though the na­tion’s beach­es of­fi­cial­ly re­mained closed up to yes­ter­day, mem­bers of the pub­lic con­tin­ued to take a chance and dis­miss warn­ings to re­main at home, a move which proved fa­tal for one per­son who died while at Blan­chisseuse Beach.

Po­lice have iden­ti­fied the man as a 25-year-old fa­ther of two from Ari­ma.

Of­fi­cials said the trag­ic in­ci­dent oc­curred around 2 pm, with­in walk­ing dis­tance of Par­adise Guest House which is lo­cat­ed along the Paria Main Road.

Al­though po­lice of­fi­cials claimed the vic­tim drowned, it could not be con­firmed if fould play was in­volved.

Of­fi­cials were al­so un­able to say if the vic­tim had been part of any group that would have gone to the area to spend the long hol­i­day week­end. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
