Po­lice are try­ing to iden­ti­fy the body of a man found out­side Co­paca­bana in Port-of-Spain, ear­ly this morn­ing.

Po­lice re­ceived an anony­mous call around 12:20 am, say­ing the body could be found on the west­ern side of Dun­don­ald Street, out­side the night-club.

In­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cers lat­er found the uniden­ti­fied man ly­ing face down on the pave­ment.

The Dis­trict Med­ical of­fi­cer ex­am­ined the body and or­dered its re­moval.

The po­lice are ap­peal­ing for the pub­lic’s as­sis­tance in iden­ti­fy­ing the body.

Of­fi­cers are ex­pect­ed to re­turn to the scene to­day to can­vass sur­round­ing busi­ness­es in a bid to ob­tain CCTV footage, which can help in de­ter­min­ing how the de­ceased came to be at the lo­ca­tion.

Po­lice have not said if there were any marks of vi­o­lence on the body.
