Police believe a body that washed ashore at Cumana, Toco, yesterday, is that of one of the people who were on board a boat which was destroyed by a United States drone stikeoff the coast of Venezuela on Tuesday.
The vessel, which was destroyed by an aerial strike, was believed to be on the way to Trinidad, carrying 11 Tren de Aragua gang members , drugs, arms and ammunition.
The body was found around 9.30 am by a man who was camping at the O’ Halloran camp.
The police were informed and a party of police officers, led by Insp Sankar and including PCs Isles, Mcketchie and Boodoo, responded. They officers found the body buty it was without the right hand, foot and had piece of clothing around the neck with burns all over.
Police said it appeared to be the body of a Venezuelan national.
It was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital mortuary pending a post mortem.
Toco police are continuing investigation.
