Just a day after the Ministry of Works and Transport patched it up, the Brasso Venado Main Road has fallen apart again.
Resident and President of the Brasso Venado Village Council, Marilyn Villafana, said around 5 PM, she started receiving calls from the villagers, reporting that the road began breaking down.
On Monday, the MOWT sent a team to the community to provide a temporary solution by filling up the broken roadway with gravel.
This happened just in time for the funeral of Dhanmatie Guy, a resident who passed away on Saturday night. The funeral took place on Tuesday, and the hearse was able to pass fairly smoothly on the patched up road.
Initially, both an ambulance and a hearse had to turn back, because they could not pass.
While the residents expressed gratitude to the MOWT, they said they need a more permanent solution.
Villafana said they will not give up on their fight for better road conditions.
Regarding the opening of the Brasso Venado Primary School, Villafana said she doubts the students and teachers will risk traversing the road. She believes it could remain closed for the rest of the year.
