Min­is­ter of For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs, Dr. Amery Browne, met with Har­ri­et Cross, High Com­mis­sion­er of the Unit­ed King­dom of Great Britain and North­ern Ire­land to the Min­istry of For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs on Mon­day to dis­cuss a num­ber of items on the bi­lat­er­al and mul­ti­lat­er­al agen­da. The High Com­mis­sion­er was ac­com­pa­nied by Ms. Chi­nali Pa­tel, Head of Po­lit­i­cal, Eco­nom­ic and Press of the High Com­mis­sion.

The meet­ing com­menced with High Com­mis­sion­er Cross con­grat­u­lat­ing Min­is­ter Browne and, by ex­ten­sion the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go, for the suc­cess­ful host­ing of the Forty-Fifth Reg­u­lar Meet­ing of the Con­fer­ence of Heads of Gov­ern­ment of the Caribbean Com­mu­ni­ty (CARI­COM) which was held dur­ing the pe­ri­od last week in Port of Spain.

In this re­gard, Min­is­ter Browne in­di­cat­ed that all cred­it for the suc­cess­ful host­ing of the Meet­ing, should go to Teams Trinidad and To­ba­go and CARI­COM. He fur­ther re­called that the meet­ing, which al­so cel­e­brat­ed the 50th An­niver­sary of the sign­ing of the Treaty of Ch­aguara­mas in 1973, saw full par­tic­i­pa­tion from Heads of Gov­ern­ment of CARI­COM in a tree plant­i­ng ex­er­cise which took place on CARI­COM Day Ju­ly 4, 2023, at the Ch­aguara­mas Con­ven­tion Cen­tre.

The meet­ing fea­tured dis­cus­sion on a range of mul­ti­lat­er­al is­sues, in­clud­ing the UK’s can­di­da­ture for Chair of the In­ter­gov­ern­men­tal Pan­el on Cli­mate Change.
