Burnt remains believed to be those of missing Fyzabad man Uagnan “Phagoo” Ramjit have been discovered in a yard not far from his home.
Ramjit, 55, was last seen liming and cooking with friends at the same Salt Mine Trace property where the charred bones were found yesterday. The discovery was made earlier today by the Hunters Search and Rescue Team, led by Vallence Rambharat, in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, headed by Darryl Ramdass. Rambharat said the search began around 11 am, and within 25 minutes, the team came across burnt mango branches in a yard approximately 50 feet from the road. Beneath the branches, they discovered charred large vertebras. Rambharat confirmed that Ramjit had been at the property on May 3, cooking, liming and drinking with other people. He said that was the last time he was seen in his neighbourhood. His sister, Nirmine Ramjattan said her brother used to smoke and drink, and was arrogant and would curse plenty, but he was not violent. Ramjattan said she was not certain the remains were her brother, but he was last seen on that property. “We hearing that they burn him. I am not sure it is him. This is the last place he was, that is Saturday night. He was drinking and liming with them,” she said. He was never married and has no children. Fyzabad police are investigating.
