A Chinese businessman was robbed of $50,000 cash in Curepe on Christmas night, after a man broke his car window and snatched two bags from the front seat before running off.
Police said the 35-year-old of Pouchet Street in San Fernando parked his black Honda CR-V in the parking lot of Persad’s in Curepe, when around 10.20 pm the suspect broke the front passenger window and removed two black bags.
Video footage showed the suspect grabbing the two bags, which contained $20,000 and $30,000 in cash, respectively, along with a carbon tank valued at $5,000.
And in a separate incident, a short distance away on Boxing Day, a robbery was reported at the Massy Stores in St Augustine.
Police said an employee reported that around 3.45 am on December 26, surveillance footage captured the suspect cutting a hole in the glass panel at the front of the store. Following checks, it was discovered that two cases of alcoholic beverages valued at $500 were missing. —ALP
