A Bar­rack­pore pro­pri­etor fought back dur­ing a rob­bery at his busi­ness place, stab­bing one of three sus­pects with a kitchen knife.

The 44-year-old vic­tim was at his busi­ness Mels Mark at Cu­mo­to North Road around 7 pm on Wednes­day when the three sus­pects walked in, pre­tend­ing to be cus­tomers. One of the men whipped out a gun and point­ed it at the busi­ness­man.

They pro­ceed­ed to rob him of a quan­ti­ty of cig­a­rettes val­ued at $3500, a lilac coloured Sam­sung A34 cell­phone val­ued at $3000 and $2500 cash. With the gun point­ed at the busi­ness­man, the sus­pects threat­ened to kill him while one of them tried to grab him.

The vic­tim picked up a knife and stabbed him three times on his left hand. The sus­pects then ran off. Of­fi­cers of the Bar­rack­pore Po­lice Sta­tion and South­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force re­spond­ed and searched for the sus­pects with­out suc­cess. The po­lice have asked med­ical in­sti­tu­tions to be on the look­out for a man seek­ing treat­ment for stab wounds. PC Ram­datt of the Bar­rack­pore Po­lice Sta­tion is in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
