A Barrackpore proprietor fought back during a robbery at his business place, stabbing one of three suspects with a kitchen knife.
The 44-year-old victim was at his business Mels Mark at Cumoto North Road around 7 pm on Wednesday when the three suspects walked in, pretending to be customers. One of the men whipped out a gun and pointed it at the businessman.
They proceeded to rob him of a quantity of cigarettes valued at $3500, a lilac coloured Samsung A34 cellphone valued at $3000 and $2500 cash. With the gun pointed at the businessman, the suspects threatened to kill him while one of them tried to grab him.
The victim picked up a knife and stabbed him three times on his left hand. The suspects then ran off. Officers of the Barrackpore Police Station and Southern Division Task Force responded and searched for the suspects without success. The police have asked medical institutions to be on the lookout for a man seeking treatment for stab wounds. PC Ramdatt of the Barrackpore Police Station is investigating.
