A 26-year-old man is as­sist­ing po­lice with a ve­hi­cle tam­per­ing in­ci­dent which oc­curred on Car­ni­val Tues­day.

Po­lice re­ports say yes­ter­day a ap­prox­i­mate­ly 5.30 am, of­fi­cers were con­duct­ing a rou­tine mo­bile pa­trol ex­er­cise along Dass Trace, En­ter­prise, when they ob­served a dri­ver of a sil­ver Nis­san Note ve­hi­cle speed­ing in a west­er­ly di­rec­tion.

The dri­ver was stopped by po­lice who then searched the ve­hi­cle.

Of­fi­cer say up­on search­ing the ve­hi­cle, they al­leged­ly dis­cov­ered a pair of reg­is­tra­tion plates.

Fol­low­ing checks, po­lice dis­cov­ered that the plates were reg­is­tered to an­oth­er ve­hi­cle.

The same dri­ver of the Nis­san Note was stopped back in April, 2022, with a sil­ver coloured Hon­da City al­so bear­ing false reg­is­tra­tion plates.

The 26-year-old sus­pect of Coalmine, San­gre Grande, was ar­rest­ed by

of­fi­cers of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force pend­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to this and oth­er in­ci­dents.

In an un­re­lat­ed in­ci­dent, on the same date, in the Blan­chisseuse dis­trict, of­fi­cers re­ceived in­for­ma­tion which led them to Ceme­tery Street, La Fil­lette Vil­lage, Blan­chisseuse.

Once there, the of­fi­cers dis­cov­ered a white coloured AD wag­on al­leged­ly bear­ing a false reg­is­tra­tion plate.

The ve­hi­cle was towed and tak­en to the Blan­chisseuse Po­lice Sta­tion for pro­cess­ing.

Lat­er that day around 9 pm, of­fi­cers were on mo­bile pa­trol in the Care­nage dis­trict along the West­ern Main Road, Ch­aguara­mas, when in the vicin­i­ty of the Board­walk they ob­served a black Mit­subishi Lancer with one oc­cu­pant parked in­con­spic­u­ous­ly at the side of the

road­way.

The of­fi­cers did a ve­hi­cle check and it was dis­cov­ered that the said ve­hi­cle was re­port­ed stolen from the San­gre Grande dis­trict on Mon­day. A 42-year-old man of San­gre Grande was de­tained and tak­en

to the Care­nage Po­lice Sta­tion. The ve­hi­cle was towed to the sta­tion for pro­cess­ing.
