A Carapichaima woman was hospitalised on Friday night after her common-law husband stabbed her several times during an argument.
The 46-year-old woman was at home on Friday when the 35-year-old suspect reportedly arrived at the house.
Officers of the Freeport CID, on mobile patrol at the time, received a report of a disturbance and responded immediately.
When they arrived, they saw the couple arguing in the street.
The woman told police they had been at home together when an argument broke out around 9 pm and quickly escalated into a heated quarrel.
As the situation turned violent, the suspect allegedly struck her on the head with a glass bottle before grabbing a kitchen knife and stabbing her several times.
The officers arrested the suspect at the scene and took the woman to the Chaguanas Health Facility, where she was treated and discharged.
