What would have led to the brutal chopping of 19-year-old Travis Sinanan, of Carapo.
Noone knows for sure, however, relatives suspect he was a victim of bullying from a particular group of people from the area.
Four men have since been arrested in connection with Sinanan’s murder which occurred on Saturday night at about 7.30 pm at Passion Lane.
Sinanan, according to relatives who spoke to the Guardian Media during a visit at their home yesterday, had left home riding his bicycle to purchase cigarettes.
Sinanan’s mother was seen lying on a couch at her home in shock and in deep grief. She said she preferred to say nothing about the incident, her son, neither about how she felt of the crime situation in the country.
However, a close female relative said she believes that two children were allegedly used to deliberately stop Sinanan on the roadway while on the way back to his house.
“They bounce him down from his bike and then they came out and chop him up. One of his hands was almost chopped off and in the other hand several fingers were cut off. His head was bashed in and severely chopped, “ Sinanan’s relative said.
“Them always used to harass him and say all kinds of things about him and say he doing all kinds if things. We don’t know why but is them self who attacked him for what we don’t know. He was always home and always talking to his girlfriend until two or three o clock in the morning, “ the relative added.
The relative said Sinanan worked as a packager and was described as a “cool” guy, “Them saying he was harassing them but he was home here talking to his mother and others home here and we have cameras to prove that. He was home, every evening he would sit and talk stupidness, make jokes...he just leave home you know to go and buy the cigarettes.”
Sinanan’s relatives transported him to the Arima Health Facility for treatment. He was subsequently transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he died at about 9.35 pm.
When officers of the Northern Division Operation Suppression Unit responded on the scene they were told of the brutal attack and directed to the bushy area where Sinanan’s attackers fled into.
The officers conducted investigations and later arrested four men who were occupants of a white Nissan Frontier pick-up truck, in connection with the incident.
The suspects; two 30-year-olds, a 27-year-old all of Carapo and a 23-year-old of Arima, are assisting officers with their investigations.
An autopsy is expected to be done today at the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
