A Caroni man was kidnapped by two men and taken to an unknown location on Sunday night, where he was beaten and stabbed before being left for dead.
The 35-year-old labourer of Frederick Settlement in Caroni was reportedly walking home around 10.30 pm when two men whom he knew from the area, drove past him and stopped.
The two suspects allegedly grabbed the victim and forced him into the back-seat of a black four door pick up van and took him to the home of another man in the area who was also known to him.
It was claimed the three suspects dragged the victim to a room where they forced him inside and locked the door before they began beating him about the body him with a wooden mop handle, a cutlass and a piece of iron.
It was further claimed that one of the men took a knife and stabbed the victim once in the right side of the chest.
As the victim collapsed on the ground, the suspects fled the house.
The victim managed to raise an alarm and was assisted by persons living close by who contacted the
Emergency Health Services who took him to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope where he was treated and warded in a stable condition. —Anna-Lisa Paul
