A Ch­agua­nas man was ar­rest­ed by po­lice at a bar along the Ca­roni Sa­van­nah Road on Sat­ur­day night, af­ter he was held with an il­le­gal firearm.

The 44-year-old man, of Pe­ters­field, Ch­agua­nas, was re­port­ed­ly lim­ing at Jol­ly’s Bar in Ca­roni, when pa­trons ob­served he had a gun on his per­son and alert­ed the au­thor­i­ties.

Po­lice con­duct­ed a search of the premis­es and those present, dur­ing which they re­cov­ered a Smith and Wes­son pis­tol from the sus­pect, along with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing four rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion.

The man was tak­en in­to cus­tody and trans­port­ed to the Ch­agua­nas Po­lice Sta­tion, where he was for­mal­ly charged with pos­ses­sion of a firearm and pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion.
