Chil­dren from 43 pri­ma­ry schools and five col­leges, as well as from oth­er groups across the coun­try, will con­verge for Phag­wa cel­e­bra­tions on the Sanatan Dhar­ma Ma­ha Sab­ha head­quar­ters on East­ern Main Road, St. Au­gus­tine, this Sat­ur­day.

A re­lease from the Sanatan Dhar­ma Ma­ha Sab­ha con­firms that on March 2, 2024, the an­nu­al Chil­dren's Phag­wa Cel­e­bra­tions will take place, with the chil­dren com­pet­ing in the singing of tra­di­tion­al songs called "Chow­taal".

“The lyrics of the songs will re­flect the sto­ry of a Hin­du his­tor­i­cal fig­ure called Pra­ha­l­ad,” the Ma­ha Sab­ha ex­plained. “Phag­wa and Chow­taal singing re­flect the ef­forts by gen­er­a­tions of Hin­dus, in­clud­ing the Ma­ha Sab­ha, to en­sure de­vel­op­ment and con­tin­u­ance of this Hin­du tra­di­tion.”

Ac­cord­ing to the Ma­ha Sab­ha, the Hin­du char­ac­ter called Pra­ha­l­ad forms the cen­tre­piece of Phag­wa against a back­ground of the Hin­du re­li­gion.

The Ma­ha Sab­ha says their Ex­cel­len­cies, Pres­i­dent Chris­tine Car­la Kan­ga­loo O.R.T.T., and First Gen­tle­man, Ker­wyn Gar­cia SC, are ex­pect­ed to at­tend the morn­ing ses­sion at the Phag­wa venue.
