Chinese opera/dance group in NAPA concerts

Lo­cal au­di­ences will be treat­ed to ex­cit­ing per­for­mances by the renowned Chi­nese Tra­di­tion­al Or­ches­tra of the Chi­na Na­tion­al Opera & Dance Dra­ma The­atre, along with the Na­tion­al Steel Sym­pho­ny Or­ches­tra of T&T, at the Na­tion­al Acad­e­my for the Per­form­ing Arts, Port-of-Spain, from 7.30 pm to­day and to­mor­row.

The gala con­cert, ti­tled “A Cul­tur­al Ex­change Ex­pe­ri­ence,” serves to fur­ther pro­mote cul­tur­al ex­changes be­tween Chi­na and T&T and is fa­cil­i­tat­ed by the Min­istry of Com­mu­ni­ty De­vel­op­ment, Cul­ture and the Arts in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Em­bassy of the Peo­ple’s Re­pub­lic of Chi­na in T&T.

A re­lease said the Chi­nese Tra­di­tion­al Or­ches­tra of Chi­na Na­tion­al Opera & Dance Dra­ma The­atre was found­ed in 1950, which marked the first Chi­nese tra­di­tion­al or­ches­tra at the na­tion­al lev­el. The or­ches­tra grad­u­al­ly formed a unique artis­tic style along with Chi­nese op­eras and dance dra­mas (White Hair Girl, Xi­ao Er­hei’s Mar­riage, The Mem­o­ry of Lo­cust Tree, Liu Hu­lan, The In­jus­tice to Dou E), and of­fers one of the most di­verse mu­sic and stage ex­pres­sion abil­i­ty.

Un­der the im­pe­tus of Liu Wen­jin, the or­ches­tra be­gan co­op­er­a­tion with Japan­ese and Ko­re­an mu­si­cians to form the “Or­ches­tra Asia” since 2003. In ad­di­tion to dif­fer­ent cities in Chi­na, the or­ches­tra is in­ter­na­tion­al­ly recog­nised and has trav­elled to over 30 coun­tries (Amer­i­ca, Cana­da, Fin­land, Swe­den, Ger­many, Aus­tria, Hun­gary, Switzer­land, Aus­tralia, Brazil, Egypt, Turkey, Ko­rea, and Japan) for per­for­mances and cul­tur­al ex­change.
