Po­lice of­fi­cers were up to late yes­ter­day search­ing for two armed ban­dits who robbed a West­ern Union out­let on Wednes­day, one of whom wore a San Fer­nan­do City Cor­po­ra­tion (SFCC) uni­form.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­port, the 27-year-old em­ploy­ee from Mara­bel­la had just walked in­to the Gulf City Mall around 9.45 am to pre­pare for the day’s op­er­a­tion.

The mall opens at 10 am.

Po­lice said as she was about to en­ter the out­let, a man placed a firearm against her back. The oth­er sus­pect wear­ing the dark blue SFCC uni­form told the fe­male em­ploy­ee to take them to the safe at the back of the out­let.

The em­ploy­ee, who held the keys to the safe, was or­dered to open the door and the ban­dits stole two cash pans con­tain­ing an un­known amount of US, Cana­di­an, EC and TT dol­lars.

The men then left the em­ploy­ee in a room while they walked out of the mall.

A re­port was made to the San Fer­nan­do po­lice and wit­ness­es were ques­tioned. In­ves­ti­ga­tors had planned to re­view CCTV footage yes­ter­day in the hopes of iden­ti­fy­ing the sus­pects.
