Police officers were up to late yesterday searching for two armed bandits who robbed a Western Union outlet on Wednesday, one of whom wore a San Fernando City Corporation (SFCC) uniform.
According to a report, the 27-year-old employee from Marabella had just walked into the Gulf City Mall around 9.45 am to prepare for the day’s operation.
The mall opens at 10 am.
Police said as she was about to enter the outlet, a man placed a firearm against her back. The other suspect wearing the dark blue SFCC uniform told the female employee to take them to the safe at the back of the outlet.
The employee, who held the keys to the safe, was ordered to open the door and the bandits stole two cash pans containing an unknown amount of US, Canadian, EC and TT dollars.
The men then left the employee in a room while they walked out of the mall.
A report was made to the San Fernando police and witnesses were questioned. Investigators had planned to review CCTV footage yesterday in the hopes of identifying the suspects.
