The own­er of a cloth­ing store in To­ba­go was shot dead at his home on Tues­day.

Don­ald Parks is the third per­son to be mur­dered for the year.

Po­lice said Parks was shot at his Sum­mer Hill home. He was the own­er of En­deav­our’s Cloth­ing Store and de­scribed as one of the is­land’s long-stand­ing en­tre­pre­neurs.

His body was dis­cov­ered with gun­shot wounds by a rel­a­tive. In­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve the mo­tive might have been rob­bery.

A neigh­bour de­scribed Parks as hard-work­ing and kind.

He said it was on­ly a “mat­ter of time be­fore the worst hap­pened.”

“The area has been plagued with a num­ber of break-ins and no­body is be­ing held for them. It’s re­al­ly sad to see it come to this,” he said.

Di­vi­sion­al head of po­lice for To­ba­go ACP Jef­frey George said he was un­able to com­ment on the in­ci­dent as pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tions were still un­der­way.
