A Coast Guard of­fi­cer was tak­en in­to po­lice cus­tody yes­ter­day, af­ter he dis­charged a firearm at two peo­ple dressed in Mus­lim wear, com­plete with hi­jabs, af­ter he claimed they were at­tempt­ing to steal a car.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred around 1 pm at the cor­ner of Al­fre­do Street and Ari­api­ta Av­enue, Wood­brook.

Re­ports in­di­cate the of­fi­cer was near­by when an alarm was raised and he re­spond­ed.

Fol­low­ing the shoot­ing, the of­fi­cer’s firearm was seized and he was tak­en to the Wood­brook Po­lice Sta­tion to as­sist in the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
