A po­lice sergeant with more than 20 years ser­vice is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear in the Ch­agua­nas Mag­is­trates’ Court to­day charged with steal­ing six panties val­ued $107.

The of­fi­cer, who was last at­tached to a po­lice sta­tion in east Trinidad and is on va­ca­tion, was al­leged­ly caught steal­ing the un­der­wear at PriceS­mart in Ch­agua­nas on Fri­day.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, around 2.30 pm an em­ploy­ee saw a man walk­ing along the aisle pick­ing up the panties and push­ing them in­to his pock­ets. When the man walked out of the store, he was stopped by se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cers who found the panties in his pock­ets.

The man, the re­port stat­ed, iden­ti­fied him­self as a po­lice sergeant, gave his reg­i­men­tal num­ber and the sta­tion he was as­signed to. The man was de­tained un­til the po­lice ar­rived.

He was hand­ed over to PCs Vil­lafana and Duprey who ar­rest­ed him and took him to the po­lice sta­tion.

He was charged on Sat­ur­day night by In­sp Man­nick, was grant­ed bail and then al­lowed to leave the sta­tion.
