A po­lice­man and his wife are ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a mag­is­trate to an­swer charges of con­tra­ven­ing a Firearms' Users Li­cense (FUL), forgery and ut­ter­ing fraud­u­lent doc­u­ments.

The man and his wife were ar­rest­ed on Wednes­day morn­ing as part of en­quiries in­to forged doc­u­ments that were sub­mit­ted to the High Court.

Po­lice said sus­pi­cions were aroused when the sig­na­tures on sev­er­al doc­u­ments sub­mit­ted by the cou­ple were in­con­sis­tent with those of oth­er doc­u­ments.

They said that the peo­ple whose sig­na­tures ap­peared on the doc­u­ments de­nied hav­ing signed them.

Sources said the cou­ple was charged on Thurs­day night.

The po­lice­man was charged with con­tra­ven­ing his FUL, as he had 35 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion, when he was on­ly al­lowed to have 30.

His wife was charged with two counts of forgery and two counts of ut­ter­ing a false doc­u­ment.

The cou­ple were grant­ed bail by a Jus­tice of the Peace on Thurs­day night.
