Cops nab couple stealing TSTT cables

A man and a woman caught steal­ing ca­bles from Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Ser­vices of Trinidad and To­ba­go (TSTT), were among six peo­ple ar­rest­ed for var­i­ous of­fences dur­ing an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es con­duct­ed this week in the South­ern Di­vi­sion.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, of­fi­cers of the San Fer­nan­do Crime Pa­trol were con­duct­ing an ex­er­cise along Cipero Street, when they ob­served two sus­pects plac­ing ca­bles be­long­ing to TSTT in­to the trunk of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions re­vealed that the ca­bles were es­ti­mat­ed to be val­ued at TT$22,414.23.

The sus­pects—a 27-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, both of Cunu­pia—were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the mat­ter and are ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a San Fer­nan­do High Court mag­is­trate, on Mon­day 14 Ju­ly 2024, charged with lar­ce­ny.

Mean­while, a road­block and war­rant ex­er­cise car­ried out be­tween 6 am and 4 pm on Sat­ur­day (Ju­ly 12, 2025) by of­fi­cers of the Bar­rack­pore Po­lice Sta­tion.

The TTPS has con­firmed that dur­ing the ex­er­cise, four peo­ple were ar­rest­ed for var­i­ous of­fences:

● A 39-year-old labour­er of Princes Town for kid­nap­ping

● A 45-year-old farmer of Bar­rack­pore for breach of pro­tec­tion or­der

● A 19-year-old labour­er for at­tempt­ed mur­der

● A 33-year-old of Rio Claro on a TAC war­rant
