A teenager was among two people shot in La Horquetta on Wednesday night. These were among several incidents which occurred between Tuesday and Wednesday.
In the first incident, around 7.30 pm, the 25-year-old victim, of Charlie Davis Street, Phase 4, La Horquetta, was standing in his yard with his mother and niece when a masked gunman walked up and opened fire on him.
A total of 13 spent 9mm shells and two live rounds were recovered at the scene.
In the second incident, which occurred close to 8.05 pm, a 19-year-old, of Corner Stone Circular, Phase 7, was shot by two masked men as he stood in front of his house.
The victim told police he saw the hooded suspects running towards him with their guns pointed.
As he attempted to run, the suspects began shooting but ran off after he raised an alarm.
Both victims were taken to hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, an accountant on her way home on Tuesday night was shot several times by armed men who blocked her car in Las Lomas.
The 63-year-old woman, of Brazil Village, San Raphael, was driving when a white car pulled in front of her.
Armed men exited the car and attempted to open her door even as they opened fire.
Despite bleeding from wounds to the chest and right arm, the victim managed to drive to the Las Lomas Police Post, where she was taken for medical care by officers.
In another incident, a 62-year-old Sangre Grande man who went to make a delivery to a customer in Laventille on Wednesday morning, was robbed by six people, including a woman.
As he drove up in a silver Hyundai Santa Fe to make a delivery to a person who gave their name as “Kalonji,” the victim was met by a woman and five men, one of whom was armed with a gun. He was robbed of his cellphone, wallet and $200 in cash.
A container which had an undisclosed sum of cash and several packages was also taken.
A vehicle belonging to a fireman who was staying at the Radisson Hotel, Port-of-Spain, was broken into and several items stolen.
The 35-year-old officer, of Debe, reportedly parked his white Nissan Navara on the hotel’s compound around 11.45 am on Wednesday, before going in to secure a room to spend the night.
Around 7.25 pm, the officer allegedly looked through a window on the eighth floor to check the vehicle and saw the tray cover open.
Upon checking, he noticed his Fire Service-issued work safety boots, beret and other items missing.
