In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to the death of a Bel­mont woman af­ter she re­port­ed­ly fell from a precipice be­hind her house.

The body of Shirlyn Ram­per­sad, 70, was dis­cov­ered around 2 pm on Christ­mas Day by her 72-year-old hus­band.

The cou­ple, who live apart, main­tain cor­dial re­la­tions.

Po­lice said the hus­band went to drop off food for Ram­per­sad and made checks around the prop­er­ty af­ter he found the house emp­ty.

She was dis­cov­ered ly­ing in a foetal po­si­tion be­hind a wood­en struc­ture.

Clad in a black and white striped blouse and a black and white skirt, the el­der­ly woman was found with a wound to the back of the head. Po­lice have so far clas­si­fied the in­ci­dent as an un­nat­ur­al death.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors have in­di­cat­ed that they will wait on the au­top­sy find­ings be­fore mak­ing any fur­ther pro­nounce­ments.- An­na-Lisa Paul
