Police are probing the murder of an unidentified man in Caura on Saturday afternoon.
Police said residents on Tacarigua Road, Caura, reported hearing gunshots at around 4.15 pm and saw a black Nissan Sylphy speeding away.
On checking, residents found the body of a man of African descent in a blue t-shirt, light blue short pants and a pair of white sneakers on the road. The man had gunshot wounds to his upper body and right side of his head.
Officers from the North-Central Division Task Force were called in with Tunapuna police and a district medical officer, who declared the man dead.
Investigators also found five spent shells at the scene.
Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II are continuing enquiries.
In another incident, Homicide Bureau of Investigations officers found the decomposing body of a 34-year-old Belmont man in Laventille yesterday morning.
Police said officers received a report of a body seen in a drain off Sogren Trace at 11 am and went to the scene.
A team of officers from the Besson Street CID and the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region I later found the body of Kern Perpignac in the drain.
Fire officers were also called to assist in removing the body.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, on Wednesday.
