Po­lice are prob­ing the mur­der of an uniden­ti­fied man in Cau­ra on Sat­ur­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said res­i­dents on Tacarigua Road, Cau­ra, re­port­ed hear­ing gun­shots at around 4.15 pm and saw a black Nis­san Syl­phy speed­ing away.

On check­ing, res­i­dents found the body of a man of African de­scent in a blue t-shirt, light blue short pants and a pair of white sneak­ers on the road. The man had gun­shot wounds to his up­per body and right side of his head.

Of­fi­cers from the North-Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force were called in with Tu­na­puna po­lice and a dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer, who de­clared the man dead.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors al­so found five spent shells at the scene.

Po­lice from the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion II are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.

In an­oth­er in­ci­dent, Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions of­fi­cers found the de­com­pos­ing body of a 34-year-old Bel­mont man in Laven­tille yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers re­ceived a re­port of a body seen in a drain off So­gren Trace at 11 am and went to the scene.

A team of of­fi­cers from the Besson Street CID and the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion I lat­er found the body of Kern Per­pi­gnac in the drain.

Fire of­fi­cers were al­so called to as­sist in re­mov­ing the body.

An au­top­sy is ex­pect­ed to be con­duct­ed at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, St James, on Wednes­day.
