Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a mur­der that oc­curred on Mon­day morn­ing. Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, a man iden­ti­fied as Kendell Mc Lean was mur­dered in Dun­don­ald Hill, St James short­ly af­ter 2 am.

Po­lice are search­ing for a mo­tive in con­nec­tion with the killing.

16-year-old ar­rest­ed Christ­mas week­end

A Diego Mar­tin teenag­er is among two peo­ple who were ar­rest­ed in sep­a­rate in­ci­dents.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, the 16-year-old male teen of Rich­plain was ar­rest­ed on Christ­mas Eve night dur­ing an Op­er­a­tion Strike Back III ex­er­cise in the West­ern Di­vi­sion. Po­lice said the teen was searched when a mo­bile pa­trol ob­served him act­ing sus­pi­cious­ly. This was when they found and seized a Beretta pis­tol along with nine rounds of 14-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion. He is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a Port-of-Spain Mag­is­trate to­day to an­swer to firearm and am­mu­ni­tion charges. WPC Williams is con­tin­u­ing the in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

$100,000 bail for Ghana­ian on fraud charges

A 43-year-old Ghan­ian na­tion­al was grant­ed $100,000 bail af­ter be­ing charged for the pos­ses­sion of 14 bank cards for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, An­tho­ny Men­sah who re­sides in St Au­gus­tine ap­peared be­fore Tu­na­puna Mag­is­trate, In­dra Ramoo-Haynes and is ex­pect­ed to reap­pear on April 1, 2022 pend­ing trac­ing. He was ar­rest­ed last Mon­day and the cards seized among oth­er items. Po­lice be­lieve the cards and oth­er items were fraud­u­lent­ly ob­tained. Po­lice said his ar­rest came af­ter weeks of sur­veil­lance and in­tel­li­gence gath­er­ing by the North East­ern Di­vi­sion (NED) Gang and In­tel­li­gence Unit. Charges were laid on Thurs­day by WPC Bon­nett of the NED Gang and In­tel­li­gence Unit.
