Police are investigating a murder that occurred on Monday morning. According to reports, a man identified as Kendell Mc Lean was murdered in Dundonald Hill, St James shortly after 2 am.
Police are searching for a motive in connection with the killing.
16-year-old arrested Christmas weekend
A Diego Martin teenager is among two people who were arrested in separate incidents.
According to the police, the 16-year-old male teen of Richplain was arrested on Christmas Eve night during an Operation Strike Back III exercise in the Western Division. Police said the teen was searched when a mobile patrol observed him acting suspiciously. This was when they found and seized a Beretta pistol along with nine rounds of 14-millimetre ammunition. He is expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today to answer to firearm and ammunition charges. WPC Williams is continuing the investigations.
$100,000 bail for Ghanaian on fraud charges
A 43-year-old Ghanian national was granted $100,000 bail after being charged for the possession of 14 bank cards for the purpose of trafficking.
According to police, Anthony Mensah who resides in St Augustine appeared before Tunapuna Magistrate, Indra Ramoo-Haynes and is expected to reappear on April 1, 2022 pending tracing. He was arrested last Monday and the cards seized among other items. Police believe the cards and other items were fraudulently obtained. Police said his arrest came after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering by the North Eastern Division (NED) Gang and Intelligence Unit. Charges were laid on Thursday by WPC Bonnett of the NED Gang and Intelligence Unit.
